How to Integrate Educents with Your Website

Introducing widgets for integrating Educents with your website!

 

We now offer a quick way to showcase your Educents products on your blog and/or website through website integrating widgets. The goal of these widgets is to increase traffic to your store and the overall marketplace. If we do this collectively as a team, there is a higher chance of you receiving new traffic from other stores as well.

The widgets will contain up to four featured products you have selected on Educents. Make sure you have selected at least four featured products. If you do not have any feature products selected, the widget will automatically showcase a random selection of your products. For stores with less than four products, make sure you have selected those products as “featured”.

 

How to Integrate Educents with Your Website:

 

Step 1: Go to “Promote” on the left-hand side of your dashboard.

Step 2: Select the number of products you would like to display on your widget. You may display up to 4 products. An example of the widget will populate below.

Step 3: Click “Copy Code” and copy the code that is generated.

Step 4: Paste the code onto your website or blog. Once the code has been copied, paste it into the HTML/CSS section for your personal website or blog. Once you click save, the widget should appear on your site. If you are unsure how to paste code onto your website or blog, consult your developer or look at the help section of your website on how to insert custom code.

Step 5: Test your new website widget on desktop and mobile. Go to your website and click on the widget. Make sure it looks correct and allows customers to click your products.

 

Note: The widget size shown in your dashboard is exactly how it will show on your site. At this time, there is only one design available. You can adjust the size based on the number of products you are displaying in the widget. If you are technically advanced or work with a developer, you are also welcome to adjust the code to fit your preferences further.

Add Videos to Your Product Descriptions

Adding videos to your product description

After many requests, we’ve built a tool that allows you to easily upload YouTube videos to your product descriptions. You can now showcase up to 3 videos about your product or company. Perhaps this includes a video on how to use your product, your product being used by children, or a video review from a mommy blogger.

 

Why does this matter?

Video has been shown to increase conversion rates. While images are great to understand the size of a product and everything that it’s included, a video can give customers a further explanation on how exactly it’s used. One study found that it’s more likely a product will sell if videos are created for them. In fact, 73% of consumers are more likely to make a product purchase if they watch a video explaining the product first. This means, if 100 people came to your product page, 73 of those people are more likely to convert if they watch a video about your product.

How to add video to your product description

On your seller dashboard, click “Products”. From there, select the product you’d like to add video for. Once you are in the product upload section, scroll down and you will see a section called “Video Links”.

Under video links, you can add up to 3 YouTube links separated by commas. At this time, we only support YouTube as the video format. After adding a link, you will see them populate under “Your Videos”.

Once the videos have been added, make sure to click “Publish” to declare them as live and officially add them to your products. You can preview your videos and make sure they have been added by clicking “Preview” on the right-hand side of the product upload above the “Publish” button.

What’s Green Monday and How Can I Participate?

What is Green Monday?

Green Monday is the second Monday of December. It’s nationally recognized as the second Cyber Monday. It’s really great for anyone who wasn’t able to shop on Cyber Monday or Black Friday, but is still looking for last minute deals. Companies prepare for Green Monday with more deals to attract last minute shoppers before the holidays.

It was originally started by eBay in 2007 and it became their largest sales day of the year, consistently beating sales revenue on Cyber Monday and Black Friday. Since then, many companies have followed in eBay’s footsteps providing discounts and participating in the day to take advantage of the high consumer demand.

 

When is Green Monday this year?

December 11th.

 

How can I take advantage of Green Monday on Educents?

As you may already know, Educents is promoting a sitewide holiday sale through December 15th. Historically, the second Monday of December has been our third highest sales day of the year for the last 4 years. This means we will be doing extra promotion on December 11th.

If you’d like to take advantage of the last minute shoppers, make sure your store is on-sale and you are offering any of your last minute deals to customers. Perhaps you’d like to offer free shipping, discounted prices, or a include a BOGO deal. Need more ideas? You can also update your product titles or descriptions to let customers know it’s the last deal of the season.

Lastly, we still have a few sponsored search and category spots left you’d like to guarantee your exposure during Green Monday. This is a great way to take advantage of the last big shopping day of the year.

FAQ: How do I ship an order?

How do I ship an order?

 

You’ve sold an item! That’s great news. To ensure you’re giving customers the best experience possible, make sure you are shipping your orders immediately.

 

Email notifications

 

For each order, you should receive an email notification letting you know about the order and a link to your dashboard for fulfilling the order. If you aren’t receiving these emails, make sure you have emails from Educents turned on under “Edit Account”and check your SPAM folder. If you still aren’t receiving these emails, let us know at sellers@educents.com and someone from our team can assist you.

 

Shipping the order

 

Once logging into your dashboard, you can find your recent orders by scrolling down your dashboard or clicking “Orders” on the left-hand side. After finding the order, click “Unfulfilled” next to that order. From there, you have the option of purchasing a shipping label through Educents. You can also use your own shipping method if you prefer.

Make sure to print a packing slip to include with your shipment. Once the order has been shipped, you must add the tracking number to the order by clicking “Add Tracking Number”. From there, you will be asked to enter the tracking number and carrier.

The final step is clicking “Mark as Shipped”. This will trigger an email to the customer with their tracking number and will let them know their order is on the way.

Your average shipping time

 

Your shipping time is recorded on Educents and your average shipping time is shown to potential customers on the items you sell. Keep this number low by shipping items out immediately and letting our team know at sellers@educents.com if you run into any issues.

Make Sure You’re Prepared: 2017 Black Friday Checklist

With one week away from our largest sales week of the year, we want to make sure you have all the tools you need to be setup for success. For that reason, we’ve created a Black Friday checklist.

 

Black Friday Checklist 2017

 

▢   Schedule your store sale. We HIGHLY recommend offering discounted prices between November 23rd and December 15th. During these weeks, we see the highest amount of traffic and page views. Sellers who put their store on sale or offer free shipping are more likely to convert those page views into customers. Because of this, we’re even hosting a giveaway for all sellers to participate in the holiday promotions.

▢   Update “exclusive” or “lowest price” items. Make sure to update your products so they accurately reflect what you offer on Educents. If your product is not the lowest price or exclusive to Educents, you will need to deselect these features or we retain the right to remove your product from our site due to false advertising.

▢   Guarantee your exposure. To guarantee page views over the holidays, we still have a handful of spots left for our promotions! Sign up now before they are sold out.

▢ Upload any NEW products one week before Black Friday by November 22nd. The earlier you can upload your products, the better.

 

During Black Friday and the holidays

 

▢ Check your SPAM and make sure you are receiving notifications and emails from Educents.

Stay on top of your messages from potential customers on Educents.

▢ If you are going on vacation, email sellers@educents.com.

 

Sellers who ship physical items

 

▢ Set clear expectations on your shipping methods and turnaround times, especially if the package is unable to arrive by Christmas.

▢   Make sure your inventory is updated. You can now set inventory limits on Educents. Over selling items is a poor customer experience (we have to email them and refund them) and it won’t look great for your brand, so you will want to prevent this from happening!

▢ If you are backordered email sellers@educents.com immediately.

FAQ: “Boost” Your Products

There are a few ways to increase your exposure around the marketplace. Using keywords to rank higher in search, putting your store on sale, or purchasing a sponsored search spot are all ways to increase your visibility on Educents.

Another feature we’ve added is called “Boost”. You can find “Boost” in the Products section of your seller dashboard. When clicking “Boost” you will see different ways to boost your product.

After clicking on “Boost”  there are four different options available to make your product stand out further on Educents.

 

Mark your product as:

 

Exclusive

Is your item ONLY available on Educents? We promote these products via email, social media, and around the site. If you cannot guarantee that your item isn’t sold anywhere else, do NOT select this option.

 

Lowest Price

Is the Educents price the lowest price available for your product? Customers love to get a great deal! If you cannot guarantee lowest price, do NOT select this option.

 

Free Shipping

Can you ship your product to the contiguous US for free? Customers are more likely to buy products that offer free shipping. (Note: You will not receive a shipping reimbursement if you offer free shipping)

 

Feature

Would you like to feature your product in your storefront? Products that are featured are given higher priority on your storefront. Limit of four.

To boost your product, simply select one or more of the four options for each product they apply to.
